FIRE crews were called to a property at Galford near Lewtrenchard on Saturday when an overhead mains electricity cable caused a small fire on the barge board of the building.
Two appliances from Okehampton attended the scene, along with one engine from Tavistock, with all three vehicles being forced to travel at reduced speed due to weather conditions.
The fire had been extinguished when crews arrived, and officers inspected the property to ensure it was safe, before handing the incident over to Western Power Distribution engineers for further investigation.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
