TWO women have been given fixed penalty fines of £75 each by West Devon Borough Council, after dumping rubbish in two separate incidents.
One dumped a plastic shopping bag full of household waste out of a car on a minor road between Gunnislake and Gulworthy which is often used as a short cut by motorists.
In Okehampton, another offender was seen to stop her car and dump several black bags of household waste on an industrial estate.
In both cases, the council's street scene officers investigated and were able to trace the women responsible.
Cllr Robert Oxborough, chairman of the council's community services committee, said: 'I hope these fixed penalty fines will act as a warning to others. Some people might think fly tipping is restricted to people dumping van loads of waste in the countryside but any dumping of rubbish is an anti-social and irresponsible act.
'As these cases show, we will investigate and take action where necessary.'
