DONATIONS of apples are needed to keep the apple press running at Farms for City Children’s base in Iddesleigh.
The charity’s Nethercott House, which offers farm holidays for urban children, has not been blessed with a good apple harvest this year - and has run out of apples for the children to juice.
‘If you are fortunate enough to have a happy and healthy apple-filled orchard, Farms for City Children are asking if you have any apples to donate to ensure the children can carry on juicing throughout the season,’ said a spokeswoman.
‘They often take the rewards of their juicing home with them to share with friends and family, which is an important part of the experience. This is just one aspect of the week that helps the children to bond with their peers and to boost their self-esteem.’
Anyone who would like to donate apples can contact the farm school manager Tim Rose on 01392 810025 or [email protected]. Staff can collect your apples.
