A TRIO of Okehampton Lions Club members has accumulated 120 years of active service between them — and they have all received their 40 years of membership chevron badges.
Nelson Trewin, Roger Alford and John Mansell all joined Okehampton and District Lions in 1974 shortly after the club's formation and charter. They were presented with their badges at the club's recent monthly meeting.
Over the years they have all taken a very active interest in club affairs. Roger has served as club president, Nelson served for many years as club treasurer and John as activity and welfare chairman and the instigator of the first Lions charity golf day held at Okehampton Golf Course in aid of Children's Hospice South West.
In recent years two of the members had the honour to be presented with their Melvin Jones Fellowship awards, for dedicated humanitarian services to Lions Clubs International Foundation. This is the highest award given to a Lion member for outstanding service.
