A COMPANY based in Okehampton has recently completed a £2.5-million building project.
ALRO Services Ltd is a family-run construction business founded and run by directors Alma and Robin Weiss and their son Francis, and 15 members of staff.
They have just completed construction of a £2.5-million sewage and waste water treatment works for the Bramshill Manor in Hampshire, now the home of the National Police Staff Training College.
ALRO design, install and maintain all types of waste water treatment systems and pump stations, working closely with the Environment Agency and the client requirements to serve both new and existing properties, from single households to communities of up to 2,500 people.
The project, in the grounds of the 17th century Grade 2* listed estate, required consultation with English Heritage, Natural England, the Environment Agency, Hart District Council and the client team.
The build delivered the replacement of three existing defunct sewage treatment process facilities with a single new sewage works.
The team had to overcome several obstacles to get the job done, including carrying out construction while the police college remained open, poor ground conditions, the close proximity of listed buildings, and rising to the challenge of current ecological and environmental legislation with the presence of bats, nesting birds and resident great crested newts around the construction site.
Managing director Robin Weiss said: 'ALRO is looking forward to the New Year ahead with the successful completion of Bramshill tucked firmly under our belt.
'In this area of critical environmental expertise, we value our staff and are proud of the professional expertise that we offer to our clients who include the Home Office and other Government departments, county councils, local authorities, PLCs and corporate clients from businesses through to private individual home owners.
'Whenever possible we employ a local workforce and use local suppliers and sub-contractors, which makes a favourable impact by bringing wealth back into the South West.'
