St Martin's U14s 1
Oke Argyle U14s 2
ARGYLE settled early at Exminster and were on target with a goal in the first five minutes. Some great play from Tom Stanbury, who passed to Tallan Burns who beat his defender before beating the keeper at his near post with a fierce left foot drive.
Okehampton continued to enjoy the lion's share of possession and some wonderful passing flowing moves opened up St Martin's but without reward.
St Martin's looked dangerous from set pieces and a couple of goalmouth scrambles followed a corner and a free-kick from wide out but the visiting defence stood firm.
Approaching half-time Okehampton doubled their lead. Ryan Gross took the ball off keeper Aaron Dearing before spreading the ball wide to Ben Bickle on the right. The ball was then passed right through the midfield of Bas Loram and Ben Barkwill and threaded the ball to Ollie Crimmins on the left flank. He beat one player and crossed the ball; Tom Stanbury dummied and Ben Bickle, at the far post hit home past the keeper.
The second-half started in similar fashion with Okehampton controlling the game but St Martins always looking dangerous on the break.
St Martin's halved the deficit with a header at the near post with 17 minutes remaining.
Okehampton held on to come away with all three points in a good all round team performance.
