THERE will be a fete with duck race and afternoon tea to raise money for Hatherleigh Carnival in the town on Sunday afternoon (September 8).
The event at the community centre will include bric-a-brac, separate chocolate and alcoholic tombolas, a guess the name of the baby photo competition, wellie-wanging, a mini-digger hook-a-duck contest and even the chance to hurl wet sponges.
There will also be competitions for the best cake decorating and shoebox floats, with entries invited from all ages.
Presiding over festivities will be Carnival Queen Sophie Reddaway, 19, selling draw tickets and drawing the winners. She will be attended by carnival prince and princess brother and sister William and Kate Hooper from Inwardleigh.
The duck race will be at 4pm outside on the river while music will be provided for the event by the Hatherleigh Silver Band.
