CHAGFORD’S community-run open air swimming pool has reopened for swimming under Covid-19 restrictions.

Sessions in the heated pool, fed by the waters of the River Teign, will need to be booked in advance on the pool website.

People are asked to come ‘beach ready’ for their dip as changing rooms and showers are not available.

There is a toilet but no refreshments and swimmers will be asked to keep a two metre distance from each other in the pool.

Lifeguard Nick Bryant said the charity running the pool had lost £25,000 due to Covid-19.

‘The best way to support us is to come and have a swim,’ he said. ‘A lot of people don’t know we are open because a lot of other pools aren’t. 'Preparing the pool to be safe during these Covid times has been a significant challenge for the pool’s management and volunteer team.'

‘Despite these necessary measures, it is well worth a visit. It changes your headspace to go for a swim.’ Find out more at chagfordpool.co.uk
