OUTLINE plans for a new primary school and 150 homes on land off Crediton Road and adjacent to Chichacott Road in Okehampton are to be on display at a public exhibition today (Thursday).
The exhibition is being held by Hannard Developments Ltd and forms part of a larger site allocated by West Devon Borough Council for development.
People will be able to view and comment on the outline proposals which look to establish further principles on the development of the site, in particular the access.
Representatives from the development team and Devon County Council will be present to explain the proposals and answer any questions.
A spokesperson for Hannard Developments said: 'We look forward to meeting with the local community and consulting on our outline plans for the development of this site.
'Given that the site forms part of a wider allocation for development within the adopted Local Plan there is an acknowledgement that Okehampton will in the future accommodate additional homes to meet a growing housing need.
'Key to sustainable growth is the provision of a primary school and we are therefore consulting on the inclusion of one on this site as part of our proposals.
'This new primary school would not just benefit new residents, but can be seen as a positive addition to the
wider Okehampton community.'
Hannard Developments are operating a Freephone information line service on 0800 112 3540 to respond to community enquiries.
On March 14 the developer will be launching a dedicated project website http://www.landoffcreditonroad.co.uk">www.landoffcreditonroad.co.uk
Those people unable to attend the exhibition, or who simply wish to review the information they have already seen, will be able to visit the website, view the proposals and leave online feedback for consideration.
The event takes place in the Charter Hall on Thursday March 14 from 3.30pm to 7.30pm.
