EXCITED spectators and participants packed the streets of Okehampton on Saturday as the carnival took over the town centre.
A spectacular day of fun was had by young and old alike. Activities ran throughout the day, kicking off with the annual coffee morning in the Charter Hall.
The hall was later filled with dozens of children taking part in the fancy dress competition, wearing colourful and inventive costumes that impressed the judges.
Youngsters took part in the children's procession in the afternoon, and the main procession made its way around the town's streets during the evening.
Town mayor Cllr Paul Vachon said: 'The carnival is a good event for the town, which gets lots of people involved. There were a fair few floats and we were lucky with the weather in the evening. The afternoon procession also went very well and it was a great carnival again in Okehampton this year.'
The carnival committee expressed its thanks to everyone who support the event and are currently in the process of counting the money raised by the day's events.
