Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision on the outskirts of Okehampton yesterday morning (June 2) in which a cyclist was seriously injured.
Emergency services were called around 6.35am following the collision between a blue Honda Civic and a bicycle on Holsworthy Road.
The cyclist, a local man in his mid-40s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter where he remains.
The driver of the car, a 38-year-old man from Bude, was not injured.
Local officers and officers from the Roads Policing Team attended the scene.
The road was closed for eight-and-a-half hours for a forensic examination of the scene to be completed.
Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
They are also keen to hear from any motorist with relevant dash cam footage.
