PUPILS at North Tawton Primary School will benefit from two brand new classrooms this year.
The classrooms, built over the summer holidays, have replaced the old classrooms that were demolished due to poor condition.
The pupils kicked off the autumn term by getting to see their new classrooms for the first time.
The rooms have been newly furnished and include state-of-the-art black interactive boards.
The school has also welcomed its new headteacher, Nick Alford, who grew up in Hatherleigh and went to school in Okehampton.
‘It’s great to return to this part of Devon as it truly feeels like home’, said Mr Alford.
‘I worked as a headteacher in West London for some time but look forward to working with the staff and pupils at North Tawton.
‘My first week at the school has been great. The children are hard working and the staff are committed to giving the children the best possible start in life.
‘As headteacher I hope to build on the successes of my predecessor, Nick D’Agorne, and I am looking forward to future successes of the school — the new classroom being the first.’
