THIS autumn term Okehampton Primary School has opened its exciting new building which features an environmentally friendly classroom.

The new classroom, which currently caters for Year 5 pupils, includes a specially installed Co2 reader which allows teachers and pupils to monitor their carbon emissions.

The tech-savvy teaching space will assist in lowering the school’s carbon footprint as well as educating the children about how to save energy and help the environment.

The school recently held its official opening of the classroom with headteacher Hazel Fox cutting the ribbon and declaring the new building open.

Mrs Fox said that the Year 5 pupils were extremely pleased with their new classroom and she hoped that the new facility would enhance the children’s learning as well as educate them about the environment.
