THE weather held off on Saturday for people to flock to Okehampton town centre to enjoy the second Food and Folk Festival. The chamber of trade initiative, supported by a number of other organisations, boasted lots of activities for families and individuals to get involved in, including a street market, musical entertainment and a baking competition. Wren Music entertained visitors with music and the Courtney Players performed, the West Devon Roots Choir busked in some of the town's cafés, OCRA held activities in Red Lion Yard, the WI held a coffee morning and had cream cakes on offer throughout the afternoon. Okehampton Foodbank had a display and a cookery demonstration and there was a seed swap and story telling, as well as many other activities going on throughout the day. Marilyn Tucker, of Wren Music, said: 'It was a really lovely day. It was nice to see everyone locally investing in issues to do with food. There was lots of things to do for all the family and we had lots of positive feedback. It was a big community event and the town felt really engaged — I think we achieved everything we wanted to.'
