SUMMER festivals are becoming increasingly popular — and with the sunshine about to give way to autumn, North Tawton got in on the act with a festival of their own. The town's rugby club hosted the first ever Tawstock Festival and family fun day last Saturday. Throughout the day, the event provided fun and activities for young and old alike, with children's races, a bouncy castle, stalls, barbecue, inflatable assault course and much more. Older visitors got to enjoy a beer festival run throughout the day by the rugby club. In the evening, there was live music from a range of performers, including Jordan Hookway, Sam Dowden, Phil Andrews and DJ Rob Mitchell. The festival, the first of its kind in North Tawton, was organised to raise funds for North Tawton Pre-School. The pre-school is a community based charity offering education and care for children between two and half years old to five years old within the Early Years Foundation Unit at North Tawton Primary School. The pre-school is run by a committee of volunteers and team of staff and is a non-profit organisation.
