FOR the second year, the Lions Club of Tavistock is inviting local amateur photographers to enter its photographic competition, staged as part of the build up to this year's Carnival Week.
There are two age groups for the competition. Those 16 years or under on July 1, have the subject, the 'Natural World'. For the over 16s, the subject is 'Tavistock and Dartmoor from any angle'.
The photos can be in colour or black and white and should be 7ins x 5ins in size and mounted on a plain sheet of white A4 paper with the photographer's name, address, phone number and age shown on the back. Each entry will cost £1 and there is no limit to the number of photographs that can be submitted.
The entries, which will be non-returnable, should be taken to Dartmoor Photographic in Brook Street, Tavistock by 5pm on Saturday, July 3 and they will be judged on the following Monday.
There will be prizes for both age groups and the overall winner will receive a 16ins x 20ins canvas print of their photograph, courtesy of Keith Hall, the owner of Dartmoor Photographic, who reserves the right to use any of the submitted photographs for publicity purposes.
Tavistock Carnival starts with a Rock 'n' Roll dance in the town hall on Friday July 9, culminating with the main procession on Saturday July 17, the theme for which is 'Let's Celebrate'.
