DARTMOOR National Park Authority (DNPA) is taking the first step in reviewing Dartmoor’s Local Plan and is inviting residents to have their say at a series of drop-in events.
The Local Plan is the starting point where the DNPA makes decisions on planning applications. Since the Local Plan was published, changes have been made by the Government and the DNPA is now looking to create a new Local Plan and has opened a consultation into what the public feels should be addressed in the new plan.
A spokesperson for DNPA said: ’Since our last Local Plan was published, the UK has been through recession, seen a new national planning framework published, witnessed the arrival of neighbourhood planning and a new government, which is making major changes to affordable housing — so there is much to talk about.
’We recently publicised our first consultation document which sets out the issues we think may need to be addressed in the new Local Plan.
’As part of this consultation, we are holding eight drop-in events where officers will be available to talk with local residents about how we should plan for Dartmoor’s future. The Local Plan will cover issues such as house extensions, design, the environment, listed buildings, housing, business, farming, tourism, quarrying and land for development. If you have views on your village or town, or any other areas which are influenced by planning, please do come and talk with us.’
The drop-in events are being held at the following times and locations: Yelverton War Memorial Hall, November 1, 4pm to 7.30pm; Mary Tavy Coronation Hall, November 2, 4pm to 8pm; Endecott House, Chagford, November 10, 4.30pm to 8pm; Princetown Church, November 14, 4pm to 8pm; Moretonhampstead Community Club, November 16 4pm to 8pm.
These drop-in events are just one of the ways you can contact DNPA about the Local Plan. Visit www.dartmoor.gov.uk/localplan to find out more about the review or email [email protected] or call 01626 832093.
The consultation ends on December 16.
