CALLINGTON Community College has been awarded £9,000 to develop its 'Forest Schools' programme to raise literacy standards through outdoor learning.
The college will work with five feeder primary schools on a series of activities, including orienteering, mini beast hunts and shelter building. The grant is from the Big Lottery's Awards for All scheme.
Assistant headteacher Michelle Roberts said training for the Forest Schools programme had taken place at Stoke Climsland Primary School but it had not yet been decided which other schools would take part.
