An Okehampton school, St James CofE Primary and Nursery, has received a £1,500 boost from a local housebuilder towards new play facilities.
St James opened in September 2018 with the nursery opening the following year. The school is part of the Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust which was established in 2018 with the vision to create ‘Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community’. The trust comprises three secondary, an all-through school and 14 primary academies including Early Years provision.
Claire Mortimer, Co-Chair of the PTA for St James CofE Primary and Nursery said: “This donation from Barratt will be going towards the playground project we have running. As a new school we have very little playground provision for the children of St James. This money will go towards a playground based on improving children’s social skills, imagination, coordination as well as having fun outside of the classroom.”
Nicki Reid, Sales Director for Barratt Homes Exeter, said: “Supporting local good causes and charities is a key mission for Barratt David Wilson Homes and it was a real pleasure to make this contribution which we know will make a fantastic addition to the school and to all pupils.”
Every month, each Barratt Homes division can donate £1,500 to a local concern that works to improve the quality of life for those living in their area.
Barratt David Wilson Homes is building communities throughout Devon including Okement Park and Hampton Mill, both in Okehampton.
