MORE than 260 people visited Eversfield Manor in Bratton Clovelly at the weekend as part of the village’s festival.
The event celebrated art, food and music and was held on June 10 and 11 to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Organised by the festival in conjunction with Eversfield Manor owners, Bernard McNelis and Li Zhu and the Gwynngala artists, the event was open to the public for a weekend of enjoyment with walks in the imaginatively restored garden and woods.
Visitors enjoyed the charming woodland walk with its newly constructed Japanese bridge, as well as exhibitions of Gwynngala’s artwork.
Guests also indulged in live music from the Tamar Classical Guitar Quartet and many more musicians.
Cream teas were provided by Bratton Clovelly Women’s Institute and a bar was set up by Bratton Clovelly Parish Council.
Joanna Wallwork, chair of Bratton Clovelly Festival, said: ‘There was a wonderfully positive, happy feeling of community over the weekend, not only among visitors but also amongst the many volunteers and contributors: the sort of feeling you want to bottle and keep. Even before we’ve packed up, there’s enthusiastic talk of next year!’
Bratton Clovelly Festival’s next event is an evening of music on July 8 by the highly acclaimed K’antu Ensemble, who are visiting from the north of the country.
