IT is not often drinkers are handed their pints by a barmaid in her pyjamas, but that is exactly what visitors to the Seven Stars Pub in Winkleigh can expect tomorrow (Friday).
Camilla Joyce will be joining thousands across the country in doing something funny for money for Comic Relief by wearing her pyjamas to work.
Camilla, 25 from Broadwoodkelly, said she tries to do something to raise money for Comic Relief every time it takes place and this year she got her inspiration from the appeal's website, seeing Davina McCall in her PJs.
As well as donning her pyjamas, Camilla has organised a raffle and auction of items, including an organ and a bridesmaid's dress.
A number of businesses around Winkleigh have donated prizes for the raffle, including a meal for two at the Lymington Arms at Wembworthy, chocolates from Londis in Winkleigh, a food parcel from the Mad Butcher of Winkleigh, a soap set and mug set from the Post Office — and Mark and Karen Landon, owners of the Seven Stars pub, have donated wine and jewellery.
Camilla said: 'I thought it would be quite funny to wear my pyjamas. They're going to be as comical as possible — stripey pyjamas with novelty Winnie the Pooh slippers and a red nose.
'I do like to do something each year to support Comic Relief. It means a lot because it helps the people in Africa who don't have homes and it helps people in the UK.
'I think they're a very good charity — and everyone gets involved in Red Nose Day so it's always fun.'
Camilla has set a target to raise £500 for the event and has already raised £350 from supporters and well-wishers.
Camilla will be in her PJs at the Seven Stars pub for most of the day tomorrow and would like as many people to pay a visit as possible. The Comic Relief programme will also be shown on the television in the pub.
