Plymstock Albion Oaks U10s 20

TAVISTOCK took the lead shortly from kick off with  a jinking run by Henry Varndell-Dawes after some hard work from the Tavy pack –Harry Richardson, Oscar Campbell  and Tom Gardener working their way patiently down the pitch. Plymstock attacked with strong rucks and  equalised. Tavistock hit back with a two superbly worked tries – from Harry Edwards and Noah Berridge.  Plymstock's attacks were thwarted  by a strong defence from the Tavistock midfield with  Dan Pett and Louis Peake combining well and Jack Bellamy making  use of the touchline.

After half-time Plymstock gain an edge, running in three tries

Tavistock pulled back with a forward led  try from Harry R after good support work from James Kenyon,  Jack Baker and Oliie Sampson. This was a great team performance.

TAVISTOCK went from strength to strength and they dominated in all areas. The determination of the OPM defence held Tavistock to four tries in the first game but buckled under the force of the disciplined Tavy side in the second. Harry Edwards at scrum half was player of the match for game one and Dan Pett and  Jack Bellamy shared the honours for  the second. Try scorers, Henry Varndell-Dawes (5), Noah Berridge, Louis Peake, Harry Edwards, James Kenyon, Jack Lancashire, Jack Bellamy (3), Oscar Campbell and Dylan Owen.

BARNABY Waddell put in a good all round performance and scored the winning try after a break from scrumhalf, Joshua Burgoyne. George Cox, Cole Pengelley and James Stevens covered the pitch well picking up a ot of loose ball. Daniel Wonnacott and Will Cunningham both made good carries into the Barnstaple defence. James Close and Saul Holliday did some good rucking with the latter proving to be a real menace in the Barum mauls.

DANIEL Tomkins and Joshua McCulloch both had strong running games breaking the Barum defensive line on several occasions. Daniel Tomkins also scored a fine try. Jordan Hill, Robert Whitby and Mathew Denning had steady games. Joshua Parsons had a good game at flyhalf making some good line breaks. Jake Laing-Taylor combined well again with Sonny Luxton in the line outs to retain the ball.

Harry Laing-Taylor at fullback produced some of the tackles of the match.

THE Okehampton team won their last two matches the previous week at the Exeter Saracens festival and continued their good form to win again against Barnstaple .

Oliver Johns scored a good try, which saw the Oke off to a good start. They fought hard, but had a slow start to the second half, allowing the opposition to score a try that brought them back into the game.

A try by Theodore Jackson Clist just before full time secured a deserved win by the Okes.

The whole Oke team were tight in their defence and showed excellent form in their tackling.

OPMs U9s 1 try

TAVISTOCK had much to improve from last week's showing and stepped up the intensity and commitment.

Tasha, making her debut for Tavistock, Ewan, Jacob and Lily all go stuck in on the tackling to ensure OPM's only score once. Marcus, Jonathon and Logan all got their hands on the ball. Tom and William linked up well for Tom's first try. Good vision from Isaac gave him a fine individual try on the blind side before OPM's scored. After that Billy, Toby and William started charging into tackes and making a lot of ground as Tavistock led 3-1 at half-time. 

In the second half Tavistock started to throw the ball about  more and this brought excellent results with tries from William, Toby , Tom and Isaac stretched the lead, but Katherine, Oscar, Ewan and Tasha also came close to scoring.

OKEHAMPTON started the game with Joe as captain. The young Okes made some superb tags and held their defensive lines well - forcing Barnstaple to turn the ball over. This fine defensive display enabled Oke to get on the front foot and score some fine tries by Marcus (3) Joe (3) and Jacob 1. The whole team could be proud of the efforts especially Aedan, Alex and Isaac for their defensive play .

ISAAC was captain for this match in which he managed the defensive and attacking lines superbly. This seemed a closer game than the first with a lot of close play and little room to pass the Barnstaple team. With Milo, Finlay and Cameron making some great runs and gaining confidence from there excellent play this helped the whole team to another deserved win

THE first match was a close encounter which saw Plymstock take a 3-1 lead at half time.  The Tavistock team did much better in the second half and were soon back on level terms before loising out 7-6.  

Tavistock captain Jack Lane scored 2 tries, Jared Hunter (2) and Charles Bowden (2).

The second match was a tight, entertaining encounter which ended up 6-6.  Tavistock's captain Joe Wheldon scored three superb tries and there was one each for Jonathan Griffiths, Ted Kenyon and Ollie Pett.

IN the first game OPMs took a half time lead of 4-2.  In the second half Tavistock were much better organised in defence, making their impressive tagging count, and forcing errors from the hosts. 

Alex Richardson capitalised on these errors to score four tries.  Captained by Billy Wilkinson the team played well and deserved their win.  Alex Richardson was man of the match, further tries were added by Ted Kenyon and two from Joshua Lancashire. 

The second game saw a completely changed Tavistock team.  OPM did well during the initial stages to make it 3-3.  Thereafter the Tavistock team dominated with excellent defensive pressure and fantastic supporting play to win 13-4.  Liam Watts scored 4 Joe Wheldon and Ollie Hawkins (3each), Jonathan Griffiths (2), and Tyler Hunt who scored on his debut. 

Okehampton U7s Barnstaple U7s

OKEHAMPTON had a great turnout against Barnstaple away despite the rough weather conditions.

Two matches were played with everyone trying really hard throughout and some players making their debut. Some lovely tagging by Adam, William and Saul to name a few. Many tries were scored with Adam and William again shining through.

Next week they play away again to Exmouth 10.30am start. Players: William Denning, Jacob Friend, Adam Stevens, Shey Simmons, Archie Short, Dan Butt, Fin Carey, Saul Jackson Clist, Korben Smart, Josh Cook, Grady Alford, Ben Cole, Hamish McDougall.

n Mount House rugby teams won matches at three levels. Away to Exeter Cathedral School, the Mount House first team through two tries from captain Wilf Hadow and a fine individual effort from Will Partington gave Mount House a 19-0 half-time lead.

In the second half, Wilf Hadow secured his hat trick, and man of the match Benedict Pugsley scored his first ever try for Mount House as they won 33-0.

The Colts A won 26-12 win against Exeter Cathedral while Mount House U9s beat Kelly Prep by 7 tries to 5.

n KELLY College U11s won 36-10 against St Petroc U11s in Bude. A quick try by Freddie Williams set the stall and there were three more tries before half-time. Excellent handling and running from captain Jacob Staig, Freddie Williams and Jack Whitson-Fay, was pleasing and the side continue to look for consistenty.

The forwards battled well, led by Lachlan Fulton. Player of the match was Louis Bailey.
