Tavistock U13s 58
Saltash U13s 5
TAVISTOCK took the game by the scruff of the neck directly from the kick-off when Bernie caught the ball and made 40 yards into the Saltash defence before deftly offloading to Will G who scored under the posts.
The Tavistock front row of Steven, Richard and Greg then began to dominate the set piece scrums which provided great ball for the backs to show their paces with Alex,Laurence and Dan moving the ball out wide to full back Billy on the overlap who scored twice before the interval.
Two further Tavistock tries from Bernie and James and a good response by Saltash resulted in Tavistock being 31-5 in front at half-time.
Ben L scored again early in the second half before Ethan had a strong run through the middle , passed inside to Cameron and then to Rory who continued the drive before putting Ben M over for Tavistock's seventh try. Ben G then scored two back to back tries set up by George with a piercing diagonal run and Theo with a great pick-up and drive from the base of the scrum.
Towards the end Will P scored by intercepting a pass between two Saltash players and Tavistock ended up with a convincing win.
Okehampton U12s 14
Launceston U12s 14
OKEHAMPTON are still looking or their first victory of the season after being denied at the death by a direct Launceston side. The home side did improve this week though and probably merited a win after coming from behind, trailing 7-0 at the interval.
A second half blindside try by Ollie Ardon, converted by Leon Horne drew the sides level early in the second half. Shortly afterwards Oke created pressure on the visitors line and Jack Chapman was on hand to score after a charge down. Corey Holliday added the conversion.
With time ticking away Launceston mounted one last attack. They bundled over out wide and despite appearing in touch, the try was awarded. A draw that felt like defeat for the home side, but hopefully a step in the right direction after a more committed performance than in recent weeks.
Okehampton U11s 14
Launceston U11s 33
THE match began with both sides taking some time to get into their stride but eventually Launceston broke through to score first.
Okehampton responded positively from the kick off with a try by James McCulloch which was converted by Nathan Tomkins.
Oke then seemed to fall away giving away penalty after penalty which Launceston capitalised on, scoring a further try before half time.
In the second half the home side though were put under constant pressure by the visitors and could not respond. Unforced errors meant Launceston went ahead and on field disagreements within the Oke team led to a disorganised performance. However, Nathan was able to secure the ball from a line out and after a strong run, crossed the line for Oke's second , which was converted by James.
All in all, it was a below par performance and Oke will need to pull together more as a team if they are to succeed this season.
Saltash U10s 20
Tavistock U10s 15
A fierce game of midfield tacking and forwards battles unfolded and it took the Tavy team until the second half to get into gear.
Saltash had most of the possession but the determined tackling of Dan Pett , Jack Bellamy and Harry Edwards, and Cameron George making some solid yardage, helped to keep the score down to 1-0 try at half time.
The second half saw Saltash dodge and weave their way to two more tries, but the Tavistock heads never dropped. A great piece of blindside work from Harry Edwards and a powerful charge through the middle by Oscar Campbell bought Tavy back into the game at 3-2. Unfortunately some panic defence work allowed Saltash to steal possession over the Tavy try line and score their fourth. However, Oscar Campbell at prop powered through to touchdown for the visitors.

TAVISTOCK showed aggressive rucking from forwards Tom Gardener and Dylan Owen. Quicker ball from scrum half James Kenyon fed Jack Bellamy , who made a great run in the corner. Good support from Tavistock backs Jack Lancashire and Jack Baker meant Saltash were on the back foot for most of this game. Oscar Campbell completing his hat trick with another driving try. A try apiece Harry Edwards and Jack Bellamy completed the Tavistock win.

Saltash U9s 5 tries
TAVISTOCK came up against a well organised and committed Saltash U9's
The early exchanges were very even, but Saltash began to get on top as they were hungrier for the ball.
Some terrific tacking by Isaac, Toby, Tasha and Oscar kept the score down to just 2 -0 at half time.
Lewis, making his debut, Logan, Katherine and Jonathan got stuck in and William, Toby and Isaac always looked threatening in attack. However on too many occasions, Tavistock left gaps in their defence and Saltash ran out 5-0 winners.

Tavistock U8s 7 tries
Saltash U8s 4 tries
THE first match saw a good defensive display by Tavistock. Each time Saltash got the ball they were met by a determined wall of Tavistock players who continually applied pressure. All of the Tavistock players worked together, and as a result forced a number of errors and achieved a number of turn overs.
Building on a well deserved half time 3-2 lead, Tavistock turned it on in the second half. In attack the Tavistock players worked well as a team, each time a player was tagged another player was there in support to take the ball on. The scorers for Tavistock were Captain Oliver Hawkins, Joe Wheldon (4), Ted Kenyon and Jonathan Griffiths with Freddie Fuller player of the match.
Tavistock U8s 9 tries
Saltash U8s 8 tries
THE second match was a much tighter game with a completely different Tavistock team.
With the ball Tavistock were dynamic, scoring a number of good team and individual tries. However poor defensive pressure allowed Saltash to pull back to level terms almost every time Tavistock scored. There was good supporting play; most notable where Tommy Murrin's superb lay off for Liam Watts to score and Billy Wilkinson's pass to set up Max Jordan to score.
Other tries by Max Jordan and Jared Hunter, Alex Richardson (2) from Liam Watt (5).
