THE launch of a new service, funded by Macmillan Cancer Support, for people living with and beyond cancer took place in the Macmillan Mustard Tree Centre, Derriford Hospital last Friday.
For many years, the Mustard Tree Macmillan Centre, which has an outreach site at Tavistock and others at Kingsbridge and Liskeard, have been places where people can go for support and advice.
An enhanced and more personal support service, 'Living With and Beyond Cancer', offers a dedicated telephone support and information line; one-to-one consultations with specialist support staff; education sessions and workshops; signposting to a wide range of services and support within local communities; appropriate fitness, activity and exercise for health and wellbeing; information and support within the workplace
Debbie Clift, a member of the Living With and Beyond Cancer Team at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust said: 'We are really excited about this project. We have been piloting it over the last few months, and the feedback has been fantastic.'
