The latest incidents reported to the police include handbag thefts, a caravan stolen then recovered, and several incidents of vandalism and anti-social behaviour:

A CARAVAN, stolen from Bere Ferrers on January 31, has been found by local police and returned to its rightful owner.

The caravan was stolen on January 31 but recovered in the early hours of the following day in Cornwall.

A spokesperson from Tavistock Police said: ‘This is a public warning that there are people travelling and looking for goods to steal — this incident was in a rural location and they even managed to cut the locks of the caravan.

‘Please make sure you are properly securing your cars, property and caravans.’

THE window of a vehicle parked at Yellowmeade Farm car park in Princetown was smashed on February 5.

Thieves entered the vehicle and stole a handbag which contained £100 in cash, driving licence, glasses, a wallet and shopping bag. CR/010869/18.

A SILVER Mercedes has had its front near-side door vandalised, costing approximately £100 to repair. The incident happened between February 6 and February 9 at Higher Street in Hatherleigh. CR/012066/18.

ITEMS were stolen from a handbag when it was left unattended inside the Methodist Church on Bridge Street in Hatherleigh between 4pm and 6.40pm on February 11. CR/012760/18.

VANDALS slashed the near-side tyre of a Nissan Primera parked on Alder Road in Bishopsmead, Tavistock at around 9.20pm on February 2. CR/010953/18.

VOLUNTEERS are being sought for Mary Tavy’s community speedwatch initiative.

Speedwatch aims to stop motorists exceeding the speed limit through villages, hamlets and towns. Vehicles caught speeding are referred to the police.

Residents who would like to volunteer are asked to contact PCSO Dave Chapple.

He said: ‘I am trying to get more volunteers as at the moment. We have four volunteers but to make a difference we really need six to eight.

‘There are no set hours — they can give as much or as little time as they want, it’s up to the volunteers.
