NORTH Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team is officially opening its new centre in Okehampton on Saturday afternoon.
All are welcome at the ribbon cutting ceremony at the centre on Hambeldown Road at 2pm on November 4.
This will be followed by a tour of the building, which has training facilities, equipment storage and garaging for the rescue team’s vehicles.
For the first time, the centre has space for the rescue team’s vehicles to be stored in the dry, loaded with equipment and ready to spring into action to attend callouts on the moor at a moment’s notice.
It marks the end of five years’ planning and fundraising to buy and create the team’s own rescue centre.
