A WILD swimmer from Northlew has raised more than £3,000 for Cancer Research UK after taking up the charity’s challenge to take a cold water dip every day during March.
Celia Miners is pictured above, in the black T-shirt, with good friend Sharn Kent at Meldon near Okehampton. She has raised £3,508 from 196 donors, smashing her original target ten times over.
Celia said: ‘Having lost a few significant people in my life and had several others affected by cancer, I saw the challenge and thought yes, I could do this, so signed up. I have been overwhelmed by the number of people wanting to join in and who have donated.
‘Most days I dedicate the ‘dip’ to someone who has had cancer join their life story, hoping to raise awareness that it can strike anyone, anytime, anywhere. It doesn’t discriminate at all.’
