IT has been a busy time for Okehampton Cycle Club riders. Earlier this month they took part in the Plymouth Corinthian Cycle Club 25 mile time trial held on the A30 between Buckfastleigh and Chudleigh.
The weather was good which resulted in some fast times and congratulations go to Emily Adkin on achieving a new personal best time for the distance.

In the South West Youth Championships were held on the Teign Valley 10 mile TT course with young riders with ages ranging from 12-16 participating. Flying the flag for the club was Ben Kerwin, 14, and he finished with a commendable time of 26.17. The event also incorporated a ladies race and this was won by club member Jacky Rice who clocked 26.41.

There was an entry of 12 cyclists who turned up last Thursday evening to participate in the Okehampton CC Summer time trial series. The 10 mile course traces the old A30 road from Bridestowe to Lewdown and back. Andy Retter took the honours on the night clocking a time of 26.07 minutes followed by Tim Bridgeman with 26.58.

On the previous evening a number of club members competed in the Tavistock Wheelers Open 10 mile time trial on the A30. Finishing times: J Fabrizio, 23.18; M Cory, 23.53; A Bowyer, 23.55; T Bridgman, 24.22; Emily Adkin, 24.25; M Rice, 24.46; M Chave, 25.53; T Johnston, 27.14; Sharon Bridgman, 28.49.
On Sunday club members took part in the St Austell Wheelers 25 mile time trial on the A30 at Indian Queen's and Emily Adkin's efforts were rewarded as she was the fastest female competitor. Finishing times: J Fabrizio, 56.32; E Adkin, 1.01.36; M Rice, 1.05.29; S Bridgman, 1.13.07; T Johnston, DNF.
