OKEHAMPTON musicians were the stars of the show at a free music event in the town on May 25.
The Open Arms Festival has been held at the Kings Arms and organised by Chris Hodgson, Mark Annear and Rob Bass for the last three years to fill the void left by the end of the Okehampton Battle of the Bands — an event which has been incorporated into the Open Arms event.
Okehampton’s own Alice Deveraux opened the show with Richard Brown with their brand of pop and techno, while fellow Okehampton musicians Quorum and Jodie and the Motleys performed, as did Haytor, progressive band Storylande, blues band Dirty Blueprint and metal group Fortune Favours the Brave.
The joint winners of the competition were Haytor and Dirty Blueprint, with a spot on the Chagstock card going to Haytor.
The event is run on a not-for-profit basis by volunteers, who welcomed donations for Devon Air Ambulance Trust and the MS Society.
