NETHERCOTT House at Iddesleigh will host a performance of ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ in aid of Farms for City Children this Friday (July 14).

Open air touring troupe Illyria originally performed the Hans Christian Andersen story in 2000, when it was the Critic’s Choice at the Edinburgh Fringe festival. Behind the fancy clothes of the tale, there is something more meaningful; human weaknesses are satirised mercilessly; and a capacity for loving is the highest value.

There are larger-than-life characters, lots to join in with — and an ending that will leave you helpless with laughter.

Gates open at 5pm. A hog roast and drinks will be available from 5.30pm or guests can bring a picnic. The performance will begin promptly at 7pm and lasts 1 hour 40 minutes including a 20 minute interval.
