OKEHAMPTON Primary School is aiming, once again, to get more pupils raking in the benefits of the great outdoors this year — and is calling upon Okehampton residents to help!

'Let's Grow' is a scheme run by Morrisons to enable schools to exchange vouchers collected in store for free gardening equipment or plants, which are being used to help pupils learn more about where their food comes from by growing more of their own fresh fruit and vegetables.

People shopping at Morrisons in the coming weeks will be offered a 'Let's Grow' voucher with every £10 they spend in store, and Okehampton School will then redeem these vouchers for as much gardening equipment as possible.

Vouchers can be deposited in a collection box found in the school's Reception area.

Fran Rickwood, eco school co-ordinator said: 'We had a really successful collection last year with sufficient vouchers to buy us potato barrels, salad grow bags and cherry and plum trees.

'This year, we aim to collect more than 2,000 vouchers to buy more fruit trees and we really hope that members of the community will help us out by handing in their vouchers to us.'
