THE OKEHAMPTON Lions Club have raised a magnificent £700 for Children's Hospice South West through their latest fundraising venture.

The club have been running a raffle for the charity in conjunction with the Lion's charity golf day.

The main prize was a brand new Raleigh bicycle kindly donated by Tyred and Exhausted bike shop in Okehampton. Tickets were sold at Mole Avon, Hatherleigh market and Red Lion Yard, where the draw took place, overseen by Okehampton mayor Maureen McDonald.

A Hatherleigh resident was the winner of the grand prize, with second and third prizes both going to Okehampton residents.

Event organiser Gerald Bird expressed thanks to everyone involved for their help and generosity.
