TORRIDGE District Council has a new senior solicitor. Jamie Hollis has joined Torridge from Southampton City Council, where he was a senior corporate solicitor. Mr Hollis was born and brought up in Wellington, New Zealand, and is looking forward to his new post. He said: 'This is a difficult time for all local authorities but I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead. I like the way Torridge works and how the council is always planning for the future.' Head of paid service Jenny Wallace said: 'Jamie brings with him years of experience and a fresh perspective to the issues the council faces. 'We're all looking forward to working with him, doing our best for Torridge over the next few demanding years.' Leader of the council Philip Collins said: 'Jamie shone through a very tough selection process so we know we've got a first class officer on board. 'I welcome him to our staff, and look forward to having his skills available to help Team Torridge move forward in these challenging times with some quite complex legal matters.'
