TAVISTOCK Pannier Market trader Mark Balsdon has come up ‘roses’ after winning a silver medal at the Royal Cornwall Show.
It was only Mark’s second appearance at the show and after winning a bronze medal last year on his debut in the horticultural section he was delighted when the judges laid a silver certificate on his display this year.
Mark, from Milton Abbot, was assisted at the show by his friend Tim Palmer, who is originally from Lamerton.
The display of roses, perennials, rockery plants and bedding along with garden related products such as tools, pesticides and garden shoes and boots caught the eye of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association judges.
He told the Times: ‘I am very happy to have received a silver. Perhaps next year I can go one better. Who knows? A lot of work goes into it and I always try to make it eye catching with a display of colourful plants together with garden sundries.’
