Okehampton Ladies second 3

Callington ladies 1

BOTH teams put up a lively and energetic performance despite the hot and stifling conditions.  The first half was an even contest with the Oke centre forward Winnie Rademaker posing problems for the Callington defence with her nifty stick work and speed.

Equally Okes' last line of defence, full backs Katy Adams, Jo Drake and Rachel Hammet were forced to tackle resolutely and make some decisive clearances to prevent the Callington attack from penetrating the goal area.

Oke broke the 0-0 deadline when they were awarded a penalty corner.  Winnie Rademaker's initial strike was saved by the Callington keeper but Oke's captain Nicky Stoneman picked up the rebound and slotted the ball into the back of the net.

Callington retaliated by taking charge from the restart.  Their attackers surged forward and quickly scored an equaliser.

In the second half Oke's fitness gave them the upper hand.  Rochelle Hillier, Holly Yelland and Molly Petherbridge worked tirelessly as half backs, chasing and intercepting the ball to feed their forwards with quality passes.  Right wing Liselotte Rademaker was unlucky not to add her name to the score sheet having several shots on goal saved by the Callington keeper.

Oke's second goal came from another penalty corner with Nicky Stoneman scoring her second goal.  Callington fought back forcing Oke's talented young keeper Shannon Osman to make some critical saves.

Oke sealed their victory after another period of pressure.  Left wing Annette Goswell narrowly missed the goal on several occasions but captain Nicky Stoneman claimed her hat-trick before the final whistle.
