FIREFIGHTERS were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the road from Buckland Monachorum towards Crapstone on Friday afternoon (November 27), where an elderly passenger was trapped inside a vehicle.

The fire service received a call from police following the two-vehicle collision at 1.39pm which left a car on its side and one elderly male trapped.

The crews gained access to the casualty and released him from the vehicle using hydraulic rescue equipment, securing equipment and small tools.

The crews then rendered first aid to the casualty who was taken to hospital by ambulance. Police were also in attendance.
