MID Devon District Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and Explorers held their St George's Day parade last weekend.

The parade, which took place at St Swithuns Church in Sandford, saw packs from North Tawton, South Zeal, and Okehampton, who came together to renew their promise.

The event was the last for the Rev Anthony Geering, who had been the district chaplain Mid Devon for the past five years .

He was presented with an award for his service to the Scout Association and expressed hopes that more young people and helpers would join the growing movement.

Assistant Scout leader for Okehampton Andrew Chamber, said: 'It was great to see so many young people and adults, joining in and taking part on this special day.'
