MID Devon Pony Club members shot, ran, swam and rode to success under guidance of their Chagford-based team trainer, Patrick Bugg, at the recent triathlon and tetrathlon, organised by the Spooners Pony Club.
Saturday’s tri-athlon at Mount Kelly saw Tom Bailey win the senior boys’ triathlon class and he will be competing in the South West regionals and then the nationals in Yorkshire.
Harry Robinson and Archie Phillips finished third and fifth respectively in the under 12s triathlon and Casey Plaskett won best swim in the 8/9 year old triathlon to finish third overall. Zara Plaskett was second in the U8s biathlon and Jacob Robinson took both best run and best swim to win the class.
The following day consisted of cross-country jumping at Sampford Spiney and Jacob and Zara rode perfect clear rounds to retain their first and second placings. Archie also jumped faultlessly and won his tetrathon class. Casey and Harry both rode well to be placed second and third individually, and the Mid Devon tetrathon team of Casey, Harry and Archie were a creditable fourth overall.
The team enjoyed the weekend and were delighted to be in the ribbons too.
