NORTH Tawton Bowls Club had mixed results for the the men’s team after completing their season in the league.

In the over 60s North Tawton A team were eighth in division four; the B were third in division five while the C team were second in division five and promoted.

In the North Devon Triples the A team was third in division two and third in the shield and the B team won division five to earn promotion and eighth in the shield.

North Tawton Bowls Club ladies again did well, winning the top club competition. In the North Devon triples they were third, and fourth in the shield.

Club winners men: Wonnacott Cup, Lloyd Reynolds; Avery Cup, Robert Arscott; Benham Cup. Tristan Hamilton; Stoneman Cups, Lloyd Reynolds and Ron Indge; Royal British Legion Cup,       Lloyd Reynolds and Rick Ball. Ladies: Powlesland Cup, Margaret Arscott; Royal British Legion Rose Bowl, Margaret Arscott; Vallance Cup ladies’ pairs, Iris Gill and Margaret Denham; triples, Iris Gill, Margaret Denham and Karen Austen.

It was also the club’s 60th anniversary celebrated with a visit by John Thedom’s Devon president’s team.

The club’s town pubs’ competition was a great success and the club congratulated Lloyd Reynolds, who gained his county badge.

Chairman Mike Thwaites congratulated and thanked all the members and said: ‘North Tawton Bowling Club is in a good place at this moment in time but we are not complacent.’
