Plymstock Albion Oaks U15s 32

Okehampton U15s 17

IT was visitors who started this semi-final brighter and looked to spin the ball wide as they created several half chances.

Their profligacy at the breakdown though would cost them dear as the larger home pack frequently overturned the Okes in contact.

It was from one of these occasions that Plymstock counter-attacked and got the ball wide for the first score which went unconverted.

Five minutes later and the Okes were staring down the barrel as weak tackling in midfield allowed the home number eight to trot in under the posts with the extras added.

The Oke side showed great character in getting back with a well worked move up the blindside that resulted in the outstanding Ollie Francis dotting down in the corner, Jack Davey was unable to convert. Plymstock stretched their lead with an unconverted try and a penalty right on the half-time whistle to give them a 20-5 lead at the break.

After the break Okehampton had the elements in their favour and they started the second period on the ascendancy.

They reduced the arrears when the ball was fed out the line to the Conor Stevens who touched down. The unfortunate Davey saw his conversion attempt cannon back off an upright. Okehampton now enjoyed their best period of the game before Plymstock weathered the storm and gradually grappled back to take control.

They scored two further tries, one converted, to leave the score 32-10 going into the last few minutes. Okehampton though completed the scoring though following a break down the far touchline that ended with Frank Smith crossing the line and Ollie Francis converting with aplomb!

Oke's team spirit, commitment and enthusiasm could not be faulted.
