Belstone v Yeoford

BELSTONE kept up their unbeaten run in the T20 evening Buckley Cup with their ninth win, this time by a convincing 81 runs against Yeoford at Shobrooke Park.

For the second time in a week father and son combo Phil and Jack Hatton got Belstone off to a rollicking start at eight an over before both retired on 25 according to the Buckley rules.

Ryan Dennis continued the onslaught with some effective lofted drives, reaching his 25 off 14 balls with three boundaries and a six.

Once these three had left the scene Yeoford came back into the game with Cuttler, M Leach and P Leach each picking up two wickets as the rest of the Belstone batsmen could only muster 33 runs between them. This did mean that the retirees were able to return towards the end of the innings to add a few more runs, which, together with a final over that included nine wides, meant that the visitors finished their 20 overs on a competitive 142-9.

Yeoford’s reply never gained momentum and, with wickets falling regularly, it was just a matter of time before they were all out for 61 with nine balls remaining. Seldom used Belstone bowlers Dave Smallacombe (4-1-13-3) and Ben Davey (4-0-19-2) did most of the damage before the game was wrapped up by smart caught and bowled dismissals by Jack Hatton and Alex Jopling.

Belstone (15pts) beat Yeoford (6pts) by 81 runs.
