Lewdown firsts v Hatherleigh seconds
THE home side won the toss and elected to field. Hatherleigh got off to a great start with openers Daniel Forrester and Adam Quick in fine form.
The partnership took the score to 92-1 before Quick was stumped by Tom Pengelly off the bowling of Mark Friend for 32.
Hatherleigh carried on building the score, thanks mainly to captain Forrester who went on to make 106 before he was bowled by Pengelly. Niall Leahy added a useful 24 as the visitors notched up 229-7.
Mark Friend took 2-59 for Lewdown.
Like the visitors the home side’s openers made a good impression. Dave Ball and skipper Tom Pengelly reached 80 before the later was caught by Daniel Forrester off Charlie Presswell for 36.
Ball continued to dominate the bowling but was out for a splendid 123 but unfortunately for Lewdown a promising 127-4 ended with 202 all out - 27 runs short of the target.
Hatherleigh bowlers Adam Quick (2-42), Simon Weale (3-41) and Jabez Weale (2-33) doing the damage.
