YELVERTON Bohemians held their memorial day for Recardo ‘Ricky’ McDowell on Sunday, July 17.
Ricky played for YBCC for ten years before moving away but always kept in touch with friends and players down in Devon. His passing in September at the age of only 42 was devastating news to everyone at the club and the Facebook posts paid testament to the heavy loss felt by family and friends.
Geoff Willcocks from the club said: ‘Ricky was simply a true cricketing gentleman and along with many other groups and clubs, YBCC would like to honour him and help his one year old daughter with her challenging condition.’
The six-a-side tournament started with an all day barbecue and various other fundraising activities. All proceeds will go to Eva’s trust fund.
Ricky will always have a continued presence at Langton Park with a new park bench dedicated to his memory.
