TAVISTOCK Wheelers organised the first ever cyclo cross event in the town thanks to the generosity of Mount Kelly. It proved to be a great venue with an energy-sapping and technical course designed by Chris Mabey and set up by a band of willing volunteers.

There were six races for different age groups and ability levels and the field even included one world champion (over 55), Steve Davis, who helped to keep the standard of the main race at a high level.

The main category winners were as follows: Under 8 race, 1st boy, Oliver Robins, 1st girl Kodie Harmer (Carb Cycles/Taw Velo). U10s, 1st boy, Louis Garnsworthy (Taw Velo), 1st girl Te’a John (SRC). U12s 1st boy, Leon Dawes (Pilgrim Flyers); 1st girl Ellen Garnsworthy (Taw Velo). U14s. 1st boy, Oliver Allen (Pilgrim Flyers); 1st girl, Rosie Andrews (Pilgrim Flyers).
