IT was another successful competition day for Dragon Taekwondo Academy, Halwill Junction.
Nine students and their coach travelled to Southampton for the South of England championships earlier this month.
There were 275 competitors, in 12 categories. For the club’s competitors it was probably the toughest competition since the club was established in 2007.
Despite the level of the competitors, which included inter-nationals, the Halwill Club students still returned to Devon with two golds, two silvers and six bronze medals.
RESULTS: Alice Morey, senior black belt sparring gold and silver.
Ella-Rose Petersen, junior ladies (under 15) colour belt patterns gold. Rachel Lovejoy, senior ladies (30+) colour belt patterns, silver. Marika King, senior ladies’ (U30s) colour belt pattern’s bronze. Rowan Power junior boys (U15s patterns) bronze.
Leo Wetherell junior mixed patterns and bronze sparring junior boys (U12s). Rowan Power boys (U15s) bronze sparring. Ellis Wiffen, senior male black belt (U21s) bronze patterns.
