Devon E Kentisbeare v Bridestowe AFTER an easy win at home to Topsham St James, followed by an equally easy defeat away at the hands of Kenn, Bridestowe needed to recover quickly when they visited Kentisbeare. However, they soon found themselves facing a formidable total of 302 on this admittedly high scoring ground. Mark Fogerty has, for more years than he probably cares to remember, been a mainstay of Bridestowe's batting, as has Phil Hatton. After Mark was dismissed it must have given him pleasure to see his son Tom, on joining Hatton, not only put on more than 100 for the second wicket but also make his maiden century. Hatton scored 93 to follow his 133 on this ground last season as Bridestowe won by two wickets with a few balls to spare. With a number of their good young players still at university this was a fine victory for the West Devon side. Having only just escaped relegation last year they may well find themselves ending up nearer the top of division E of the Devon Cricket League at the end of this campaign.
