Okehampton Otters and Tavistock Swimming Club held their annual Dartmoor Gala at Parklands Leisure Centre recently.

Okehampton took 19 swimmers who did 61 events between them performing amazingly well.

Most of the Otters were competing in their first gala but those who were not got plenty of personal best times.

Head coach David Dennis said the swimmers all had a wonderful time.

‘I think they were shocked when they walked in to see so many other swimmers from all over Devon,’ he said. ‘The Okehampton Otters were fantastic and I was thrilled and proud with how well they did.’

‘To finish with four gold, one silver and two bronze medals with such an inexperienced squad was wonderful.

‘Daisy Rowe also got top girl in her age group and I’m delighted for her. We had half a dozen 4th/5th place finishes. Well done to all the Otters who took part.’
