TEN ladies cricket teams from all over Devon played in an eight-a-side tournament at Hatherleigh.
Whitchurch got to the final by winning all their matches against Bovey Tracey, Cornwood, Axminster and Plymouth. Whitchurch's fielding was excellent, with good batting performances from Clare Glanville and Kirsty Gray, and Cathy Griffin bowled consistently well throughout the tournament.
Hatherleigh lost their first match against Exmouth but then won their next three against Sandford, Topsham and Bovey Tracey. Hatherleigh's success was due to excellent performances in the field and the batting of Frances Lausen and Catherine Williams.
In the final Whitchurh batted first and posted 42-3 off six overs. In reply, Hatherleigh started quickly but lost wickets.
However, an unbroken stand of 18 runs off 11 balls by Briony Harris and Kirsty Tidball got Hatherleigh home with one ball to spare.
