Caradon ladies firsts 7

Okehampton ladies 4

THIS was another fast paced and exciting game for Okehampton ladies who took early possession of the ball and for the first ten minutes looked threatening.

It was Caradon who took an early lead through some tricky attacking. However despite repeated attempts by silky skilled Oke forwards Jo Moppett and Leslie Bingham it was impossible to get through Caradon's talented keeper who deflected a number of visiting attacks on goal.

Caradon kept pushing forward to their attacking D. Oke sweeper Jane Jones and goalie Shannon Osman had their work cut out as the Caradon attacks kept coming - thanks to their efforts Oke kept the score to 2-0 at half time.

Okehampton started the second half more determined. With Caradon pushing up the Columbines exploited the space with Jo Moppet skilfully taking the ball a round the keeper to score for the visitors.

However Caradon immediately scored again taking the score to 3-1. Okehampton continued to push hard with midfielders Sarah Jones - Oke's player of the match - and Joey Drake working tirelessly to both push the ball forward and defend against the tricky Caradon attack. Goals then came thick and fast from both teams. Okehampton displayed excellent team work on a penalty corner, passing the ball between four players before Jo Moppett slotted it into the goal. In the last 20 minutes the Columbines really upped their game and despite being behind were determined to give it everything they had. Unfortunately Caradon had the same idea and the match ended with a 7-4 defeat for Okehampton..
