White Eagles 3

Tavistock ladies’ first 3

AFTER a disappointing loss to Exeter University last week the Tavistock ladies were to looking to get back to winning ways. The reds met White Eagles away in Tiverton who currently sit mid table in the league.

Tavistock started well and applied immediate pressure in the home side’s half. Winning consecutive short corners Tavistock’s Pollock and Fenwick combo were unlucky not to score; however, following a White Eagle body on the line saw the visitors awarded a penalty flick. Fenwick successfully flicked the ball home to take Tavistock into the lead.

Eagles came back strong and applied the pressure onto the Tavistock defence. With some impressive defensive work by the back line of Scott, Pollock, Mills-Hicks and Evans they kept the home side clear of goal. However, just before half time White Eagles equalised.

Tavistock went back into the second half with positive minds and a slight adjustment to formation and it did not take them long to step up and take the lead, following some brilliant work from forwards Lamb junior, Gaspar and cleanly finished by Law.

With the Reds in high spirits they soon showed what they could do with some impressive link work from Lamb junior and Law, who once again fired home for Tavistock to take a 3-1 lead.

However, White Eagles did not give up and fought back hard and forced mistakes out of Tavistock to come back in the game at 2-3.

With an injury to Tavistock’s centre back Pollock in the last five minutes, the home side found gaps within the Reds and brought the game back to 3-3.

Tavistock were unable to take the lead back and ended, for them, with a disappointing draw.
